High speed PCBs require accurate controlled impedance traces to operate reliably.

The RITS520a features
integral airline references for automatic self-verification.

Multiple quick change heads

Less than 0.8 seconds per test

Automatic controlled impedance test

Less than 0.8 seconds per test
Designed especially for PCB manufacturers
Excellent R&R
Ideal for testing on coupons and PCBs
Ten times faster than manual test

Automating impedance testing allows a high degree of measurement repeatability essential when tolerances are very tight. This repeatability is ensured as the RITS measurement system self verifies automatically to an internal standard every few minutes.

Air lines are the definitive standard for impedance calibration. Polar Instruments uses 30cm 28 Ohm, 50 Ohm, 75 Ohm and 100 Ohm air lines as reference standards. Factory air lines are traceable to NIST or NPL.

Airlines are included on the test table to facilitate closed loop verification — the RITS regularly checks the lines to check the overall measurement accuracy is within specified limits.

The RITS520a is able to place the IP series controlled impedance test head probes onto test pads as small as 20mil.

Test coupons or PCBs

The RITS520a is equally at home testing impedance coupons, or controlled impedance test traces on PCBs or backplanes. The test table of the RITS520a can support coupon test fixtures for volume test of coupons or alternately accept PCBs up to 20" x 28"

Programming of coupons is fast with a simple test editor and a flexible step and repeat facility. The RITS520a can also be programmed from CAD or CAM Data by using Polar RITSCam Lite or RITSCam Pro, either package reading a large number of CAD formats including IPC-D-356.

Multiple quick-change heads

Using up to 6 heads, the RITS520a accepts a variety of single ended and differential probes. Multiple heads give you the flexibility of testing a variety of pitches and orientations, without the RF compromises of rotating or variable pitch designs.

The RITS520a may be configured with 2 to 6 heads and 4 or 8 test channels. This means a wide variety of single ended and differential configurations can be tested in a single set up.

Additionally the test table may accept either multiple coupons or PCB panels, making the RITS520a a versatile solution for processing large quantities of impedance tests in a variety of formats.
