Why create stackups with Speedstack HDI PCB stackup design tool?

Speedstack HDI PCB stackup design tool is a comprehensive PCB stackup design environment for PCB fabricators, pre-layout engineers and value-add PCB brokers. By collating libraries of materials, costs and suppliers with critical design data, such as transmission line specifications or impedance control, Speedstack HDI lets you produce error-free build documentation.

What will Speedstack HDI do for me?

OEM designers

Speedstack HDI's end-to-end approach to PCB stackup design allows you to create documents that can be shared at every stage of the PCB supply chain and drastically reduces the time you need to create, document and control PCB layer stackups.

HDI PCB fabricators

For HDI PCB fabricators, Speedstack HDI provides the flexibility to quickly calculate the possible impact of substituting alternative materials to improve manufacturability and reduce cost while maintaining the specified parameters and performance of the board.

How?

Easy graphical stackup display

The HDI navigator quickly guides engineers though the sequential substack lamination sequence and presents the complete assembly in a parsed graphical display that shows each phase of the multi-step lamination sequence of an HDI PCB. User-definable settings within the navigator allow engineers to display layers in transparent, invisible or 3D mode.

Sub-stack reordering

Speedstack HDI makes re-ordering and renaming sub-stacks quick and easy with the Speedflex Navigator. This is especially useful for HDI constructions.

Stack descending

Simply select the sub-stack and move it left or right within the Navigator window:

Stack ascending

Speedstack HDI's technical reports print the final stack in a range of high quality formats.

Materials can be enabled or disabled for each layer, and impedance structures can be added to each sub-stack.

Definable colours per material

Speedstack HDI gives you the ability to set and store individual material colours via the material Properties dialog. Printing will reflect the colour changes

Powerful stack browser / search option

Utilise alternate data streams (ADS) to store summary stack information, including layer count, thickness, copper thickness, etc. Speedstack HDI's powerful search mechanism allows you to specify a filter criteria and match the relevant files; your selected file is automatically loaded into the stack editor.

Without Speedstack HDI...

PCB manufacture, and especially HDI/sequential lamiation builds, can be expensive in money and time. Using the traditional, informal methods of exchanging stackup information is prone to misinterpretation as the stack definition is passed around the supply chain. Errors in stack documentation all too easily result in board scrappage and remanufacture.

Speedstack HDI for cost control

Speedfstack HDI allows OEM designers and PCB fabricators to control the traditionally high cost of HDI PCBs. Using comprehensive, standard or custom libraries of suppliers, material lead times and costs, Speedstack HDI can eliminate hours of complex calculations by quickly displaying the predicted effect of using different materials and suppliers on a board’s electrical performance, cost and manufacturing yield. This ultra-fast process means that more options can be explored to find the optimum combination of materials and suppliers for each board.

High quality error-free documentation

Speedstack's professional, high quality documentation is extended in Speedstack HDI. Once the HDI stackup is complete, Speedstack HDI will automatically parse the master stack into its sequential sub-stack lamiation steps, each step being brilliantly illustrated by the Speedstack report generator. Documents can be exported in a range of industry-standard formats including JPEG, Gerber and PDF files so that every company and individual within the fabrication process, from PCB fabricators to brokers, can have the same clear instructions and parameters.

Completing your system

Adding the Atlas Si GHz-PCB test system to the Si9000e insertion-loss control tools in Speedstack HDI Si gives you complete control over insertion losses throughout the fabrication process.
