How to stay safe from counterfeit Polar software

Counterfeit software is an industry wide problem.

The use of counterfeit or pirated software is illegal and constitutes copyright infringement under intellectual property laws in most jurisdictions worldwide that can lead to both civil and criminal penalties.

Polar takes great care with code scanning and endpoint security to ensure our software is safe and free of threats. Running counterfeit software exposes you to the risk of downloading unwanted malware or ransomware, or simply running on cracked software that is a decade or more behind the genuine article leading to missed expectations or at worst compromised designs.

Here is how to check your Polar software is genuine.

If you have doubts about the legitimacy of your Polar software, you may contact Polarcare along with your Polarcare contract number and
the license file you suspect. Our security team will be able to confirm if your software is genuine – and if not, offer you advice on how to license a legitimate installation.

Report counterfeit software:

If you discover counterfeit software in your organisation you may report it to this email address where we will advise on the action needed to legitimise the installation: report_fraud@polarinstruments.com

Curbing piracy:

You should only procure Polar software licenses through Polar's authorised channels and partners – listed on this website. Software licenses are non-transferable and non-assignable, so it is not possible for example to purchase from an auction or sale of assets without first discussing assignment or novation with our legal team.
