Timeline of Polar products 1976 – 1986

Toneohms gradually expanded from purely PCBA troubleshooting to gain capability to seek out degraded components, leaky capacitors, etc. and extended their role into the world of electronics service and repair. Later in the first decade innovative tools for general purpose troubleshooting emerged.

Where the journey started – the first audio guided shorts locator, the Toneohm 400A,
whose launch customer was a well known UK Aircraft engine manufacturer

Adaptor to convert a basic anaolog oscilloscope
into a transistor curve tracer and V/I

The genesis of a whole range of general purpose fault location tools.

DS102 Digital Oscilloscope
Early DSOs were expensive and had unfamiliar interfaces
The DS102 provided an economic route to adding
DSO capability to the technicians bench at an enconomic price.

1985

Model 12 Continuity Tester
Audio continuity tester with ultra low probe voltage
designed to be "CMOS" safe for the new logic
families which needed treating with respect compared
with the traditional TTL logic.
