Atlas BiDirectional SET2DIL
Insertion loss testing using SET2DIL method – Polar Atlas
insertion loss test software and Tektronix DSA8300 TDR
Competing methods for insertion loss from different OEMs
mean that it is hard to generate volume sales
for insertion loss testing

Speedstack Online Library
Curated materials library from official material partners gives OEM PCB Technologists
and designers access to the latest material types

|

Speedstack Loss v Frequency
Until 2017 Speedstack purely modeled impedance. Versions of Speedstack Si past this
date included
built in
insertion loss and roughness modeling with the proven
Si9000e field solver engine.

Polar YouTube Channel
Polar's YouTube channel offers introductory and educational collateral
through the medium of video.
For viewers with limited
YouTube access at work or with terrirorial restrictions
the same content
is
available
to stream direct from
the Polar website.

Import / Export industry standard IPC-2581 Rev B files
As an IPC consortium member Polar provides Speedstack data
in IPC-2581 B format from 2018

Si9000e – Simonovich-Cannonball-Huray roughness compensation
Huray roughness modeling until this point was only valuable
to fabricators with SEM imaging of surface roughness.
The Simonovich-Cannonball method allows input of
Rz to give a viable empirical model without the need for SEM data.

Si9000 – Monte Carlo analysis
One of the benefits of a fast field solver is the ability to perform
production simulation. Built in Monte-Carlo
analysis
in Si8000m and Si9000e
offers real world production yield simulation for transmission lines.

Speedstack Structure View
A grid view added to the Speedstack editor makes navigation of
complex stacks fast and easy.

TRC Plus – TDR View
The advent of UHDI traces of 30um and below leads to
significant DC resistance in TDR traces.
This in turn leads
to
correlation errors between measured and modeled characteristic
impedance if not correctly de-embedded.
TheTDR view in TRC Plus
allows designers to estimate if DC resistance needs removing before
correlating results.
(This is done in the measurement system with
LPE - Launch Point Extrapolation - or DC resistance compensation)

Speedstack – Calculated Back Drills
High layer count ultra high speed boards can suffer reflections
and signal distortion from via stubs. Backdrilling
the
copper
from
the stub significantly enhances high speed signal integrity – but
drill too far and the board is scrap,
so Speedstack
clearly
documents
the Must Cut and Must Not Cut layers for each drill type.

Si9000e – Embedded Trace Substrate (ETS) structures
New additive fabrication techniques mean that the trace can be embedded in the substrate.
The ETS
structures added in Si8000m and Si9000e 2025 cater for this with the traditional
Polar ease of use.

Toneohm 950A
The Toneohm Short Circuit locator is a thread that runs throughout Polar's
50 year history - tracking
down
those
hard to find
short circuits with the "Toneohm Sound" The 950A is the latest incarnation,
with
automatic
plane stimulus switching
and an intuitive touch screen colour display;
its "retro" looks
a nod
to the fact
that since
day 1 - user
interface
and ease of use have been a Polar signature.

SiExcel with Insertion Loss
SiExcel has until 2026 only connected with Polar impedance field
solvers. The 2026 edition extends the Excel interface to support
insertion
loss calculation with the full suite of roughness modeling tools.
It also supports operation under both 32 and 64 bit Microsoft Excel(TM)

Speedstack Extensions – Apps to Extend the Functionality of Speedstack
Many customers export Speedstack XML files for pre and post processing –the 2026
edition of Speedstack brings
this
capability
inside Speedstack to make the
process of running script extensions a more seamless and integrated process.
